Everything is stretched instead of the buttons being anchored to the edges. Otherwise it's a great tool to learn katakana and the other one is also good. I wish the developer could make an app with both with the same UI and features maybe even more
(2017 May 5) It's best app for memorizing katakana from zero. Update: The UI is more complex in the new version. I don't mind because I had completed and master kana. Update: I am very lucky that I started learning Japanese earlier. Why? Because now the app is not free anymore (based on others comment). よかった Update: Actually the basic kana is still free, and it's enough because the old app also only teach that. So the paywall is an upgrade to unlock voiced kana and combo kana.

To whoever made this application thank you!I paid for both the katakana and hiragana because it was so good I learned all the characters quickly and i review them everyday for about 30 minutes to keep my mind fresh for reading.
This app was very helpful. I memorized all katakana characters in a day. Not everyone may be able to accomplish that, but give this app a try. It's really effective and I enjoyed it.

You have to pay to get the rest of the characters. There are free alternatives.

simple and effective but I wish the complete range of katakana syllables were included. I couldn't find how to practice "po" or "Sha" for example.
I suggest adding options for various character font types, considering how some characters used everywhere else look different from the ones seen in this app.
It seems a bit more fun to treat it as a game! but I think it'd be a whole lot better with some audio. Especially for people who learn best by hearing. I'm mainly a visual learner personally, but I still find it to be more helpful just to hear the characters so I can know and remember exactly how they're meant to be pronounced. Just visuals aren't really enough for anyone, especially when it comes to learning new languages.
Really helping on memorizing Katakanas in my spare time. Recommend people to just buy it.

Can't write in it, so it just recognition testing which will never get into long term memory this way. Pretty pointless.

Love it! A couple of notes: would be awesome if you could pick Hiragana to show instead of Romaji, that way you could build the connections in your mind. Also a back button while you're in practice mode would be awesome. But love your products as always!
It's good, and works very well. I'd like to see 'extended katakana' in this too though - ヴィ, クォ, etc.
This app is amazing! If you need help learning Hiragana or Katakana download their apps. They deal with memorization, I usually start with the bubble select before moving to the keyboard. 10/10. One request: Make the keyboard larger in the app, the small board is easy to make small mistakes on.

I absolutely recommend this app to any and everyone trying to learn kana!! I learnt the entire katakana in less than an hour! The UI is amazing, it's simple to use, it has audio, it basically has everything and I guarantee it works really really well. So pleased! I just wish it was available on iOS too... And is there one for kanji?
